Words of the past

If i was younger, so much younger than today
I'd change nothing but the unkind words said
I'd not re-work careers, or women, or employment
I'd not turn a blind eye to what I have become.
In age I see that it is words
coated in venom, and snarled in rage
that are what older men ponder over
and what young men trade.
